What's new in 2009
Management Dashboard
A new Management Information Dashboard allows instant and easy access to valuable management information. Managers can now easily view and analyse all Enquiries and Valuations with a range of user-defined criteria being applied to each screen. Any customisation performed on any of the AnalysisPanels, including layout and selection criteria are remembered the next time the user opens the Dashboard.
Enquiry Analysis
This allows graphical analysis of enquiries within user-defined criteria. For example the number of enquiries within specific periods by Engineer, Enquiry Type, Client etc.
Enquiries Won and Lost Anaylsis
This allows graphical analysis of enquiries won and lost showing value by type, estimator, client etc.
Valuations Analysis
Allows analysis of Valuations, showing both applied and nonapplied values, within a user-defined period. A month by month breakdown of values is also shown graphically.
Business Management Report Console
The new Cross Contract Database Builder (CCDB) provides access to all key ContractMaster Project and Enquiry information in a single centralised SQL Server database for ease of reporting.
Also included is a new, easy to use Report Generator that allows users to define their own Custom Reports, taking data from all major ContractMaster modules. Reports may also include data from any other SQL Databases including Estimation’s own Service Manager, Contract Costing and Financial applications.
You will also be able to create, edit, sort, delete and customize business reports and documents created in other reporting applications, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Access and Crystal Reports. All documents and reports are stored and easily accessed from with the new Business Management Reporting Console.
Estimate Graphical Analysis
Prime Cost Summary Totals may now be viewed graphically. Users can select to display information in different chart styles, e.g. Bar or Pie Chart. Different cost elements, e.g. Labour Hours, Material or Sub contractor costs etc., may be displayed by Section, Location, Commodity, Group, Grade or Cost Head.
Enhanced Supplier Discount Management
Supplier Discounts are now much easier to manage with the ability to export your user-defined discount structures in either Microsoft Excel or csv format. The exported discount structure may then be forwarded to suppliers for their completion of your discounts.
Completed discount files from suppliers are then electronically imported back into the discount structure. This quick and easy process saves time and helps reduce duplication and errors.
Auto Numbering of Project IDs
Users can now have separate automatic Project numbering within ContractMaster, similar to the existing automatic Enquiry numbering.
In a further improvement to the ContractMaster integration to Estimation’s Financial Suite, users can now also elect to use the automatic numbering within Costing. This ensures that a single numbering system can be set up and automatically applied across both systems.
Automatic Project Numbering allows for the following four options.
Enquiry - The current enquiry number is used by default, which the user may over type.
Simple - The next project number in sequence is generated and users can specify the prefix.
By Branch - Uses the next project number for the contract’s branch.
Costing - The Costing system will determine the next number to use.

New period analysis and period driven reports are now available in Costing, allowing you to reconcile the transactions posted to Accounts and Costing for specific periods.
Emailing Feature
For greater flexibility email purchase orders and sales invoices, plus you can also set up your email templates as Microsoft Word documents – all helping to save paper and the environment.
Retention Control Enhancement
You are now able to modify Control of Retentions to follow current Industry Practices of totalling retentions outstanding and allowing simple release of 50% of outstanding retention on practical completion of contract.
Enhanced Management of Applications
Now you can simply calculate due dates for applications and the certification process, applicable to both Sales and Sub contractor documents. Plus you can automatically clear down applications on final invoice.
CIS Management
Fully compliant with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) for automatic handling of sub contractor verification and tax, including online submission of Contractor monthly returns.
Integration with Sage Line 200
Now you can use Sage Line 200 Accounts package with Costing allowing total integration with your accounts system.
Enhanced Data Integrity
With new improved integrity of data you have the ability to quickly identify any erroneous postings so that you are not producing reports on incorrect figures. If a change is made in Costing you can automatically apply that change into Accounts and vice versa making sure all entries are updated simply.
Nominal Analysis by Job Type
To enhance the costing job type administration section so that a nominal account (and cost centre) can be assigned to a job type minor. The nominal account can then be used when creating the default nominal analysis for a sales invoice or certificate.
Purchase Invoice Discrepancy Enhancement
Enhancements have been made to posting functions in Job Costing to allow for greater visibility of discrepancies in purchase invoices.
New Job Cost Report
A new report has been added to show costs and sales revenue per job grouped by period.
Cost Types Editor
This gives you the ability for the cost type to be changed on all cost documents created in Job Costing. This applies to documents which have been saved allowing you to easily amend incorrect postings.
Delete Purchase Orders
To allow greater flexibility you can now delete a purchase invoice without deleting the purchase order, meaning you keep your filing in good shape.
Cashbook Forecasting
To help keep track of up and coming costs you can now forecast costs due in - payments due, outgoings, and retentions so you can manage your committed costs even better than ever.
Retention Details
View the retention details of a job or sub contractor by simply clicking on this new tabbed option, with the ability to show due dates of retention transactions and a grid listing of the amount entered on each certificate.
Service Manager Plus 2009
A powerful package for managing and controlling every aspect of service work, including planned preventative maintenance, reactive and call-out jobs and minor works.
The software is fully scalable, making it ideally suited to service operations of any size. Simple to use, yet extremely powerful, Service Manager puts you in control of your service workload and resources, using advanced technologies such as electronic on-screen mapping so you instantly see how to optimise your resources most effectively.
The unique integration to mobile devices such as PDAs gives you the option to dramatically reduce paperwork and speed up communications, allowing you to operate more efficiently, improve cash flow and enhance profits.
What's new in the 2009 version
Interactive Customer Website
Totally interactive - Now your customers can log in and view the status of Service Manager jobs, and log new jobs online. Any new jobs logged on the website will appear directly in the Service Manager jobs list with an alert to the users to say that a new job has been logged which requires attention.
This new interactive website will also be customisable so you can add your own logo and colour options.
Engineer GPS Tracking
Locate and respond instantly to jobs - As part of Service Manager Mobile using Bluetooth GPS you can connect to the engineer’s PDA and ascertain their current location, if they are on the move and how fast they are travelling, all the information is stored on your Mobile Server
With Service Manager, you will be able to access this information back in the office and plot on a map using the new integrated mapping feature the current location of the engineer, as well as the stored location information for that engineer over a given period.
Map Integration
New integrated mapping makes planning your engineers’ tasks and locations easy as well as saving you valuable time and money. You can view all of the diary appointments and jobs which need scheduling on the map (as well as the current locations of engineers if known), which allows you to better plan what tasks to do and when.
For example: you can see that three of the planned maintenance services required in a given week are all close to each other so you can send the same engineer to do them all in one day. For reactive tasks they will be able to pick an engineer who is close to the location of the job, either by seeing the current location of the engineer or by seeing the location of other tasks already assigned to the engineer.
Planner Enhancement
The new enhanced planner feature will allow you to assign engineers to tasks directly from that screen, without having to open up the visit in a separate
window. Click on a visit in the planner and the details of that visit are displayed in a sidebar, along with a list of engineers and subcontractors. Then just drag engineers onto the tasks to assign them,a great time saver.
Mobile Management Console
Another new feature with Service Manager Mobile integration. This is built into the desktop version of Service Manager and will allow you to view the status of each mobile device, which includes when they last connected to the server. It will also show you any documents which are waiting to be sent out to the devices such as job details or contract changes, so you know exactly what the engineers have and have notyet received on their device.
Auto Create Material Requisition
Giving you the ability to automatically create a Material Requisition for required parts from within Service Manager. This is then posted to Costing where it can be developed into stock requisitions/purchase orders linked to the Service Manager Job. The great feature allows you to reduce repetition and errors.
Multiple Trade Engineer Categories
As an engineer can be charged out at several different rates on different jobs for the same contract, it can be difficult to keep track. Multiple Trade Categories allow you to set and modify different costs per job per engineer. The modified category would then be able to attract the correct rate for the work carried out. You can also allocate multiple engineer categories to each engineer.
Enhanced Contract Rate Setup
The ‘Copy Contract Rates’ feature will help reduce the number of different rates involved when you set up a contract and reduce the large amount of data entry required by allowing you to copy the contract rates that have already been configured for one contract to another. You may also have a standard set of
contract rates which vary only slightly from contract to contract, so you can now copy them all from one contract to another meaning you don’t have to
enter them manually again and again for each new contract.
List/Amend Service Spares
Spares which are used to carry out a particular service can be configured against the service record when the service is being configured on the site equipment. When that service is scheduled additional spares requirements can also be added to individual scheduled instances of that service – saving you
valuable time.
